how to make Grilled Peaches and Cream step-by-step photos
Gather all of your ingredients and preheat the grill to 400°F.
Prep the peaches: Carefully cut around 4 peaches from top to bottom, twist the halves apart, and remove the pit. If the pit is stubborn, use the tip of your knife to gently pry it out.
Brush each cut side of the peaches with ½ Tbsp oil total and set them aside.
Grill the peaches: When your grill is nice and hot, place the peaches, cut side down, onto the grates. Brush the rounded tops with the remaining ½ Tbsp oil and grill for 3-4 minutes until softened and grill marks form.
Flip the peaches: Use kitchen tongs to carefully flip the peaches over. If they stick slightly, you can use a spatula or fork to release them from the grill. Then, combine ½ tsp cinnamon and 2 Tbsp sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over the top of the peaches.
Keep grilling the peaches for another 3-4 minutes until the sugar starts to melt. Once melted and the peaches are softened, remove them from the grill.
Serve: Now divide the peaches onto 4 plates or bowls. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, chopped walnuts (½ cup total), and ½ Tbsp honey each. Enjoy!
Recipe Success Tips & Suggestions
- Your peaches are ripe when they have a sweet aroma and yield slightly to gentle pressure when squeezed. Don’t grill overly ripe peaches or they’ll get mushy.
- This easy grilled peaches and ice cream recipe also works in a grill pan on the stove top if you don’t have an indoor or outdoor grill.
- Make sure your grill is preheated, clean, and hot before grilling. Otherwise, the peaches might stick when you try to flip them. You can use a spatula or fork to gently pry the peaches off the grill when flipping if they do stick.
- Avoid sprinkling the grill with the cinnamon sugar mixture when topping the peaches. It’ll likely burn on the grates and leave you with extra scrubbing to do later!
- Feel free to use other nuts besides walnuts. Pistachios, almonds, and even peanuts would be great. Use what you’ve got!
- I drizzled the dessert with a little honey for extra sweetness and depth, but you can omit it if you’d like. You can also try maple syrup or agave.
How to Serve Grilled Peaches and Cream
If you have fresh mint or basil on hand, definitely add a few leaves to your grilled peaches and cream before serving for a little fresh flavor! Sometimes I even add a tiny sprinkle of salt for a salty-sweet dessert. As for the ice cream, I usually stick with classic vanilla ice cream, but caramel, cinnamon, butter pecan, or bourbon ice cream would be amazing here. If you’d like a slightly less sweet option, try these grilled peaches with our homemade frozen yogurt and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, or a sprinkle of granola for even more crunch.
Grilled peaches are best served warm right off the grill, but if you have extras, slice them up and add them to your overnight oats the next morning—such a treat!
